Union, Delphi come together at two Ohio plants

Aug. 17, 2007

The United Steelworkers of America and its Local 87 have reached a tentative agreement with Delphi Corp. covering some 900 workers at the company's Vandalia and Home Avenue, Ohio, automotive parts plants.

If the contract is ratified by the membership, it will expire on Sept. 14, 2011.

USW Local 87 President Dennis Bingham said that details of the agreement are being withheld pending contract explanation meetings with the membership. Following the meetings, the tentative agreement will be subject to ratification by the membership.

Before the contract goes into effect, it also must be approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan.
