Goodyear looks to revamp its supply chain

July 27, 2007

"We learned a great deal during the Steelworkers strike about working with reduced inventories," said Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Chairman, CEO and President Bob Keegan during a conference call earlier this week.

Goodyear is using that knowledge to "develop a global supply chain that's competitively advantageous" and would serve its dealers better, he explained.

"We have some money to invest in this area, and don't think of bricks and mortar; think more in terms of IT.

"This is not an industry with great supply chains overall because the SKU proliferation of the past 10 or 15 years has really strained the system."
