Adapters aid siping of non-mounted super-single tires

July 3, 2007

Tire Service Equipment Mfg. Co. Inc. and Safety Siping and Grooving Co. (TSI/SSG) now has available Model 6138-19.5 and 6138-22.5 heavy-duty truck tire adapters for siping non-mounted super-singles.

Previously, non-mounted super-single 19.5 or 22.5 tires were too large for the expanding rims on the company's STE-M siper, and they therefore could only be siped after being mounted on the wheel, TSI/SSG reports. The 6138 now gives the user the ability to sipe these large super-singles without them being mounted on the wheel.

Model 6138 adapter plates utilize the standard siper arbor shaft and retaining nuts and can be used on either the ST or the STE-M.

Adapter plates are placed on each tire sidewall and the operator simply passes the mandrel shaft through the bore of each adapter plate. The tire is secured between the plates by tightening the mandrel shaft nuts.
