CTNA will hike consumer tire prices

July 28, 2008

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) will raise prices on all of its Continental, General and proprietary brand passenger and light truck tires up to 8%.

The hike covers tires sold in the United States and is effective Oct. 1. Specific rates will vary by market line and/or tire size, say CTNA officials.

Earlier this month, Michelin North America Inc. announced it will raise prices on its Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, private and associate brand passenger and light truck replacement tires up to 12%, effective Sept. 1.

In addition, Michelin will hike prices on its Michelin and BFGoodrich brand commercial tires up to 8%, also on the same day.
