Pirelli will get new chairman and CEO

Hugh Pace, formerly of Smithers Rapra Technology, will become chairman and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America Inc. (PTNA) on June 4.

A 30-year industy veteran, Pace takes over for Kevin Riddett, who has left the company "to embark on new professional challenges," according to Pirelli Tyre SpA. Guy Mannino remains president of PTNA.

"Mr. Pace's international experience is a major plus for our company's growth strategies in North America," says Francesco Gori, CEO of Pirelli Tyre.

Pace began his career with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in sales and marketing. He then progressed to several senior executive posts, including the presidencies of the Asia Pacific Region, Mexico and Argentina.

James Dowey, currently director of tire uniformity machinery for Kobelco Stewart Bolling Inc., a Hudson, Ohio-based tire equipment manufacturer, will replace Pace as vice president and managing director of Rapra.
