Chicago Auto Show: Bridgestone launches new Turanza, Duravis tires

Feb. 7, 2007

Two new Bridgestone tire lines were officially launched at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show by Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT).

One is an all-season touring tire and the other is a heavy-duty light truck and commercial tire line. They were previewed by BFNT dealers at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas.

Bridgestone Duravis

According to the company, the Duravis is designed to deliver long mileage, durability and reliable performance for fleets as well as personal and commercial light truck users. It features a square footprint, sidewall protector, stone rejecter technology and heavy-duty construction.

"Duravis stands for durability, endurance and strength, reflecting the capabilities of this tire. It's rugged enough for the toughest jobs," says John Gamauf, president of consumer tire replacement sales.

The line will include two tires for heavy-duty commercial highway use. The Duravis R500 HD tire is specifically designed to address the needs of today's light truck and commercial drivers by delivering above-average mileage with high durability and enhanced design features. It has a full-highway tread depth and, helped by the company's UNI-T technology, handles well on both wet and dry roads.

The R500 HD is available in six R-rated, Load Range E light truck sizes.

All-steel casing construction gives the Duravis R250 many of its features, including endurance, long mileage and retreadability. The tire will be available in five Q-rated, Load Range E sizes in April 2007.

Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity Technology

Key benefits of the latest tire in the Turanza family include a quiet, comfortable ride, wet performance and long wear. The all-season touring tire has an asymmetric tread pattern and incorporates Ever-Black sidewall technology, which preserves the sidewall's appearance over time.

It is available in 22 sizes that provide coverage for a wide variety of premium touring vehicles. The H-rated sizes feature a 70,000-mile limited tread wear warranty. The V-rated sizes are backed by a 50,000-mile warranty, while the W-rated sizes are warranted for 45,000 miles.
