Michelin wins big OTR contract in China

July 11, 2008

Groupe Michelin has signed a contract with China Coal Pingshuo, China's largest surface coal mine, to supply 63-inch OTR tires.

The renewable contract for the size 53/80R63 tires spans three years. China Coal Pingshuo produced 80 million tons of coal in 2007.

"The goal of the service contract is to optimize conditions of use for the 63-inch Michelin XKD1 tires fitted on vehicles operated in the mine," say Michelin officials.

"To achieve this goal, specialized Michelin technicians, in cooperation with teams from China Coal Pingshuo, will manage the service shop, where tires will be mounted, dismounted and repaired, tire pressure will be checked and maintained at the right level, and other operations will be carried out."
