VAA's Akridge receives award of excellence

Dec. 30, 2013

Steve Akridge, longtime executive director of the Virginia Automotive Association (VAA), recently received the CEO Award of Excellence from the Virginia Society of Association Executives (VSAE).

"This is a true honor, as recipients are nominated by their peers," says Brenda Carpenter, president of the VAA.

Here's what the VSAE had to say about Akridge, who has served the VSAE and the association community for many years.

"His thoughtful leadership, professional demeanor and outgoing personality have made him a valuable asset to VAA and VSAE. As president of VSAE, he facilitated the development of a bold plan to improve the image and effectiveness of the association.

"He was able to build consensus among the board of directors, develop a strategic plan for our future, and enlist member support for the vision. Steve is a consummate professional, who is dedicated and enthusiastic in all he does."

The CEO Award of Excellence is given annually to "an outstanding association professional who has been nominated by peers in recognition of his or her leadership and achievement," according to the VSAE.
