TIA announces 2014 ATS training locations

Nov. 12, 2013

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced locations for the 2014 Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Advanced Instructor Training Tour.

The four-day, in-depth hands-on training classes will be conducted around the United States with the goal of educating tire technicians on the proper safety procedures and guidelines for servicing passenger and light truck tire and wheel assemblies.

TIA says most of these classes are held at local community and technical colleges.

“The ATS Instructor Tour has been a tremendous success over the last couple of years and we have certified over 300 instructors during that time period,” says Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training.

“We’re making the training more accessible to retailers across the country and they continue to respond by sending employees to become TIA Certified ATS Instructors.

"As long as the demand for training continues to grow, we’ll keep adding new cities and revisiting cities where attendance was strong.”

TIA will be visiting 13 cities in 2014. Exact dates for each location will be confirmed and announced in the near future. The preliminary schedule is as follows:

* February - Charlotte, N.C.;

* March - Sarasota, Fla., and Houston, Texas;

* April - Denver, Colo., and Baltimore, Md.;

* May - Minneapolis, Minn.;

* June - Pittsburgh, Pa.;

* July - San Francisco, Calif.;

* August - Chicago, Ill.;

* September - Cincinnati, Ohio, and Boston, Mass.; and

* October - Los Angeles, Calif., and Tallahassee, Fla.
