American Pacific Industries Inc. (API) is recalling approximately 4,738 Spector Advanta SUV radial light truck tires (size P255/70R16) made between Feb 3, 2008, and March 1, 2008.
The tires sport DOT codes 3EEC0508 through 3EEC0808.
"These tires may have a thin area of rubber on a portion of the tire bead," say officials from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
"Should a tire with this condition be mounted and inflated, the resulting poor bead seat will allow loss of air pressure during vehicle operation affecting steering control of the vehicle."
API will notify owners and replace any defective tires free of charge. The recall is expected to begin this month. Owners may contact API at (800) 944-8414.
