Yokohama Tire Mexico (YTMX), a subsidiary of Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC), has hired Humberto Gomez as its new director general responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company based in Queretaro, Mexico.

The position was created to meet the growing demand for consumer, commercial and off-the-road (OTR) tires in the country.

Gomez is a 30-year tire industry veteran who came out of retirement to join Yokohama, according to Gary Nash, president of YTMX. “We are very fortunate to have Humberto join our team in Mexico,” says Nash. “He brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience, which will provide us with vital sales, distribution and business logistical advantages.”

Gomez worked three decades for Bridgestone Corp., spending much of that time in Mexico where he held several positions, including vice president of the commercial division. He also worked for the company as president in several Latin countries, including Venezuela, Costa Rica and Brazil.
