DENSO to invest $2.2 million in new warehouse

DENSO Corp. has announced plans to open a shipping plant warehouse in Montgomery, Ala. The company will invest approximately $2.2 million in the facility and create at least 45 positions.

DENSO’s new location will support the warehousing and shipping of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units and other parts for its North American customers. Start of operation is scheduled for April 2014.

“It’s always been DENSO’s core operating philosophy to be close to our customers in the regions in which we operate,” says Hikaru “Howard” Sugi, CEO and president of DENSO International America, Inc.  

DENSO says it will lease an existing 103,000-square-foot warehouse in Montgomery, Ala. and will employ about 45 employees in a three-shift operation. 

This investment news is part of DENSO’s expansion plan to invest nearly $1 billion in North America, more than $750 million in the United States, to strengthen and expand its product development and manufacturing capabilities across the region.
