Griffin Brothers, NASCAR present Corvette

June 27, 2008

Cornelius, N.C.-based Griffin Brothers Tires, Wheels and Auto Repair and NASCAR have presented a restored 1979 Corvette to a high school senior who recently lost his firefighter father.

The father of the car's recipient, Vic Isler Sr., was a Corvette enthusiast. His wife had bought the '79 Corvette for him on eBay several years ago.

"It was meant to be a restoration project for father and son," say Griffin Brothers officials.

"As time and money permitted, Vic Sr. worked on the car and told his son that when he turned 16, the car would be his."

In March 2008, Vic Sr. died while fighting a fire in a warehouse.

"He didn’t get the chance to complete all the repairs the car needed before his death in March, but with the help of Griffin Brothers and NASCAR, Vic Jr. was surprised to receive his dream car in time for his 16th birthday on October 24."
