Atlas Tire expands in Canada

Aug. 5, 2013

Atlas Tire Wholesale Inc. has opened a second distribution center (DC) in western Canada and expanded an existing warehouse in eastern Canada.

The new DC is in Edmonton, Alberta. Atlas also operates a DC in Richmond, British Columbia.

The company says the Edmonton distribution center offers improved delivery times to clients in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Atlas’ clients in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan now have the added benefit of increased inventory in western Canada, along with the capability to order from two western Canada distribution centers based on inventory availability.

In addition to its expansion in western Canada, Atlas is expanding in Ontario. After moving into its new 80,000-square-foot Mississauga facility in September 2011, Atlas is increasing capacity there with the addition of 34,000 square feet of warehouse space as an adjacent bulk storage facility.

The company says the addition creates a 114,000-square-foot distribution campus that will significantly increase its capability to handle early receipt of winter tire bulk shipments from the tire manufacturers.

These two expansions combine with Atlas’ other facilities to bring the company’s national footprint to 156,000 square feet in four locations across Canada. Atlas says it now has increased inventory capacity to efficiently handle over 170,000 tires plus wheels and accessories.

Founded in early 1990, Atlas focuses on the passenger and light truck tires and also distributes wheels and accessories. Atlas services over 2,700 clients across Canada.
