Robbins LLC has begun a plant expansion and modernization program at its Muscle Shoals, Ala., facility.
A new rubber mixing line and a 1,800-square-foot testing and quality control laboratory will be part of the expansion. It tentatively will be completed by Feb. 1, 2003, says H.D. "Mac" McCuistion, CEO and president.
The mixing line will include a new Krupp ZK-250 intermeshing rotor mixer with state-of-the-art batch-off and feed systems that will be automatically controlled, he adds.
In June, Robbins purchased the assets and technology of Presti Rubber Products Inc. Presti was a producer and distributor of outside and inside retreading envelopes for light truck through large OTR tire casings.
Robbins manufactures outside and inside envelopes for retreading passenger, truck and small OTR tire casings. It also produces curing tubes. It distributes its products through a global network of independent distributors and regional sales managers.
