Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has introduced a new premium luxury touring SUV tire, the Discoverer CTS.
The all-season tire with the "premium appearance" offers drivers high levels of wet traction and ride comfort, according to the company. It features the following:
* an innovative open shoulder, five-rib tread design that was created for all-season traction. The wide center elements are designed for responsiveness and highway stability, while the wide circumferential grooves help the tire resist hydroplaning.
* Cooper's Response-Technology (R-Tech) construction, which employs several design elements that work in concert to provide tire performance. They include a computer-designed configuration of the tire sidewall and an extended bead filler.
* a "coupled silica-based compound" that helps provide traction in wet conditions while maximizing tread wear.
* computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing. Combined, they help reduce road noise.
The CTS is backed by a 70,000-mile limited tread wear warranty. It is available in 16- to 18-inch sizes with stylish outline white letter or black sidewall options for not only SUVs but also light trucks and crossover vehicles. A 20-inch size also is available.
