Cooper Tire Discoverer helps children discover the world

June 15, 2008

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is supplying the Adventure Learning Foundation (ALF) with Cooper Discoverer S/T-C tires for use on the 10th leg of the World of Wonders (WOW) educational expedition.

The WOW program teaches school-aged children about the world's people, cultures and places through an interactive, Web-based application.

According to ALF President Donald Greene, the expedition will cover 40,000 miles across Africa, Europe and Asia. Cooper also provided tires for the group's trek across New Zealand and Australia.

The Discoverer S/T-C is Cooper's premium all-purpose light truck traction tire. It is engineered with a special cut-and-chip resistance tread compound.

Cooper says the tire is especially suited for extended off-road applications because of its hybrid tread design, which combines all-terrain, high void and commercial traction features.

The mission of ALF is to enhance greater understanding of the world's different cultures by promoting global thinking and encouraging students to explore outside the traditional classroom. ALF has conducted 17 expeditions around North America and the world since its inception in 2000.

Expeditions are shared in the foundation's "virtual classroom," an interactive online format, with classrooms around the United States and in more than 70 different countries.
