New Bridgestone tire for quarry and mining

June 4, 2013

Bridgestone Commercial Solutions, a business unit of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, has launched the Firestone DuraLoad PT L5S bias tire, its newest addition to the DuraLoad tire line.

Designed for severe loader service, the new tire features the same casing construction as the DuraLoad DT and DuraLoad SDT.

The company says advanced sidewall rib protector technology minimizes sidewall damage and improves cut resistance. The sidewall technology plus a larger footprint design provide longer wear to make the Firestone DuraLoad PT L5S tire ideal for use in the harshest of mining and quarry environments.

“Quarry and mining operations require specially engineered tires to maximize cut resistance in severely rocky conditions,” said Bert Jones, manager, product marketing, TBR, Retread and OTR.

“The Firestone DuraLoad PT L5S tire offers the benefits and durability of DuraLoad casing construction, for which the product is known, but in a plain tread design with no lugs.

"The plain or smooth tread alleviates cuts and puncture damage caused by rocks in the tread voids and is ideal for quarry and mine use in severe rock. This tire is developed to endure these hazards, prolonging life and minimizing downtime.”

The tire is offered in both nylon and nylon steel construction in size 45/65-45.

Nylon steel construction offers added protection from casing damaging cuts and is good for severe operations. Nylon construction is ideal for loaders operating in environments requiring chains.

The Firestone DuraLoad PT L5S bias tires are available through authorized Firestone OTR dealers.
