Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is moving bias ply racing tire production back to Akron, Ohio, five years after transferring it to Chile.
Up to 65 jobs will be reinstated, according to a Goodyear spokesman.
About 150 jobs were sent to Chile in 1997.
"The agreement approved by the (local) union included some production efficiencies that made it feasible," says the spokesman.
Goodyear also is offering early-retirement incentives to up to 170 unionized workers in Akron.
