Nexen to supply tires for Mitsubishi

May 17, 2013

Nexen Tire Corp. announced it will supply N’Priz tires to Mitsubishi for the Outlander Sport crossover beginning in May 2013.

The Outlander Sport is being heavily promoted by Mitsubishi across the U.S. market, according to Nexen. Mitsubishi will start production at its Illinois plant this year.

The Outlander Sport will be fitted with Nexen's N’Priz RH1 and RH7 from 16 to 18 inches. Nexen expects this contract will add to the momentum it has steadily built towards higher product quality and brand awareness, as well as greater OE supply worldwide.

Nexen became the first Korean tire manufacturer to become a global OE supplier for the Lancer, Mitsubishi’s midsize sedan, in May 2012. The company says it is now in discussions with many other global car manufacturers about further OE supply.

“It is a testament to the global recognition of Nexen’s quality and technological capability that Nexen has been able to supply Mitsubishi Motors,” said Lee Hyeon-bong, chief executive officer. “It will give us more opportunities to raise our brand awareness and expand our sales channels in the U.S. and European markets.”
