Toyo Tires win Stadium SUPER Trucks Series in LA

May 2, 2013

Robby Gordon and Toyo Tires scored a historic first-ever win during the debut of the Stadium SUPER Trucks (SST) racing series this past weekend at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.  Gordon’s #7 SPEED Energy/MAPEI 600-horsepower spec race truck is equipped with Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires.

The Los Angeles event challenged drivers with a combination of both dirt on the floor of the stadium, and pavement when climbing out the top of the famed peristyle.  Gordon began the weekend as the number one qualifier, and dominated the 20-lap main event for the overall win.  It marked a historic return for Gordon to the LA Memorial Coliseum, while marking the first appearance of the new SST racing series.

“We congratulate Robby Gordon for making history with his win at the LA Memorial Coliseum,” said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.  “That makes two overall wins out of three races for our Open Country M/T-R tires in the Stadium SUPER Truck series.”

The next event is this Saturday, May 4 at the Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California.

All 12 SST events in 2013 will be televised via tape delay on NBC networks, seven on NBC and five on NBC Sports. Check local listings for channels and times.
