Sean Kane takes TIA and RMA to task

Feb. 14, 2013

Everyone knows where Sean Kane, president of the Safety Research & Strategies Inc., stands on the tire aging issue.

"Take a more active role in eliminating the used and aged tire hazard or pay the price," he told attendees to the Tire Technology Expo in Cologne, Germany, in January.

More recently, however, he took on the Tire Industry Association (TIA) and the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) on his website. Apparently not happy with the outcome of his efforts to legislate what he calls safety issues, he had some choice words about the associations and their involvement in Maryland HB 122, the used tire legislation they support.

To find out what he said, check out the latest blog by Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich, "If TIA is the puppet master, is NHTSA the puppet?"
