Medium-duty rebound: Orders best since Q1 ’08

Jan. 22, 2013

Americas Commercial Trucking (ACT) Research says that 2012 ended on a strong note for medium-duty truck demand.

This updated status of the North America commercial vehicle market is included in the State of the Industry report, recently released by ACT, that covers Class 5 through 8 vehicles for the North American market.

“The last time Classes 5-7 net orders were as high as they were in Q4 was in Q1’08,” says Kenny Vieth, ACT’s president and senior analyst.

“Strength was broad-based throughout trucks, buses, RVs and step vans. As for Class 8, orders above the level of build allowed the backlog to rise for a third consecutive month in December.”

ACT is the leading publisher of new and used commercial vehicle (CV) industry data, market analysis and forecasting services for the North American market, as well as the U.S. tractor-trailer market and the China CV market.
