Up close and personal with the 2010 Dakar

Dec. 18, 2009

High adventure. Radical terrain. A few hundred motorcycles, cars, quads, and trucks racing over mountains, through deserts, and along the Pacific Ocean. This is where heroes are made and legends lived.

Welcome to the 2010 Dakar, the craziest, most dangerous off-road rally in the world. And once again, Toyo Tires is covering it all from the front seat—or at least the trunk—of an H3. For the third year, our own Ramses Perez is blogging, shooting video, and taking photos while riding with off-road rock star Robby Gordon's Team Dakar USA.

On January 2–16, Gordon will traverse some of the world’s highest sand dunes and mountains while racing through Argentina and Chile with one thing on his mind: victory. After an impressive third place overall and first-in-class finish in 2009, he is determined to take the top spot in 2010.

Originally run through Europe and Africa, the Dakar returns to South America for the second time with a course that covers 5,592 miles (9,000 kilometers) over 14 stages. This is an incredible, international event. It’s wild and fun, beautiful and dangerous, and you can be in the middle of it with Toyo Tires.
