Cooper Kenda Tire plant earns quality certification

Nov. 6, 2009

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. reports it has earned ISO 9001:2008 quality management system certification at its Cooper Kenda Tire manufacturing facility, a joint venture located in Kunshan, China.

The Kunshan certification marks Cooper’s fourth manufacturing facility to be certified under ISO 9001 quality management system standards. Last November, Cooper announced the ISO 9001 certification of its three U.S. manufacturing facilities, in Findlay, Ohio, Texarkana, Ark., and Tupelo, Miss.

“This latest certification demonstrates Cooper’s strict adherence to the highest quality standards, throughout the organization, whether we’re operating in the U.S. or in China,” says Cooper Chairman, President and CEO Roy Armes. “Certification serves as a third-party confirmation of our ongoing commitment to quality and continuous improvement.”

Jointly owned by Cooper Tire and Kenda Rubber, the Cooper Kenda Tire facility is located in the Jiangsu Province of the People’s Republic of China outside Shanghai. The facility produces tires for export from China for Cooper Tire.
