SEMA SHOW, Day One: Falken intros LT, touring tires

Nov. 3, 2009

When it comes to new products, it's full speed ahead for Falken Tire Corp., which is displaying two new light truck tires and a T-rated touring tire at this week's Specialty Equipment Market Association Show.

The new light truck tires include the Falken High Country A/T, which is now available in 34 sizes, according to Mark Richter, Falken's senior manager, dealer marketing. "It's for your core pickup trucks and SUVs. It doesn't have a lot of the extra spicy, inch-up sizes."

However, the tire sports a more aggressive tread design than conventional original equipment light truck tires, he notes. "It has a very square shoulder and it fills up the wheel well."

The High Country -- along with Falken's other new light truck tire, the Wild Peak A/T -- signifies a new direction for Falken, according to Richter. "Dealers don't think of Falken as having all-terrain LT tires."

Also new from Falken is the Sincera Touring SN211 touring tire, which is "more of an entry-level product. We never had a mainstream, touring-type tire for the masses before."

The Sincera is ideal for popular sedans like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, he says. It contains four optimized circumferential grooves for hydroplane resistance, variable sipe depths, a "stylish serrated sidewall design," and other features. It comes with an 80,000-mile limited mileage warranty.
