SEMA SHOW, Day One: two new tires from Pirelli

Nov. 3, 2009

Pirelli Tire North America has a big presence at the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

In addition to one of the largest booths in the Tires, Wheels & Equipment section of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Pirelli introduced a number of new products, including a new line of tires for SUVs,  crossover vehicles and light trucks.

The new products are:

* Scorpion Verde All Season. The newest addition to the Pirelli Scorpion family, the all-season tire has been designed specifically for SUV’s, crossovers and light trucks. It offers drivers “increased performance in wet braking, dry handling, wet handling, snow traction and reduces aquaplaning,” according to the company.

In addition, through decreased rolling resistance compared to its previous all-season tires and an 8% reduction in weight, the Scorpion Verde All Season lowers CO2 emissions – all part of Pirelli’s Green Performance strategy.

* P Zero Trofeo. A DOT street-legal race tire, the P Zero Trofeo features a wide contact patch and stability during acceleration.

Pirelli also announced three line extenstions. Size 315/25R23 102Y XL has been added to the P Zero Nero ultra-high performance line. It is designed for high performance luxury vehicles.

Two run-flat sizes have been added to the P Zero UHP line: 285/35ZR19 99Y and 245/40ZR18 93Y. And sizes 285/55R18 103H and 245/50R19 105V XL have been added to the Scorpion Ice and Snow luxury SUV line.
