Goodyear hopes to 'invigorate' retail business

Oct. 22, 2009

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has made two personnel changes in its North American Tire consumer business operation.

John Peer has been named vice president and general manager of retail operations. He replaces Scott Vogel, who has left the company.

Peer headed up Goodyear’s North American retail business, now comprised of 680 company-owned retail outlets, from 1999 to 2005. Most recently, he was director of dealer sales and retail operations.

In a related move,  Paul Wanstreet, who had been vice president of operations for Goodyear’s Wingfoot commercial tire retail business, is now director of retail operations.

Peer will report to Steve McClellan, president of consumer tires in North America. Wanstreet will report to Peer.

“John and Paul bring a breadth of industry skills and depth of leadership that, in combination, will provide exactly what we need to help invigorate the retail business,” says McClellan.
