CTNA unveils industrial tire for airports

Oct. 14, 2009

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has unveiled a new industrial tire for airport ground service applications, the ContiRV20.

The ContiRV20 is available in various sizes. It contains a closed shoulder to minimize tread tearing, a reinforced sidewall, a proprietary tread compound that reduces rolling resistance and other features, according to CTNA officials.

"The lowered rolling resistance of the ContiRV20 allows customers to save fuel costs with every mile they drive. This extra mileage per gallon of fuel -- up to 30% more than with a bias tire-- allows airlines to work toward lowering their overall energy consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions as required by law."
