TBC announces plans for South Carolina D/C

Oct. 9, 2009

TBC Corp. has announced plans to occupy a one million-square-foot distribution center that will be built in Berkeley County, S.C.

"We are excited about the opportunity to consolidate a portion of our distribution network to a new and larger facility in the Charleston area," says Erik Olsen, CEO and president of TBC Wholesale Group.

"The infrastructure and location of the Port of Charleston complements our growth and will allow us to meet the growing demands of our customers."

The warehouse's location will allow TBC to receive product from domestic and international suppliers, "subsequently streamlining product and inventory management," according to TBC officials.

The Memphis, Tenn.-based private brand marketer plans to bring thousands of containers through the port each year. Construction of the distribution center is expected to start during the fourth quarter of 2009 with a tentative opening set for late 2010.
