Snider Tire to acquire Consolidated Tires Inc.

Sept. 28, 2009

Snider Tire Inc., one of the largest commercial tire dealerships in the country, has announced that it will acquire Consolidated Tires Inc., a commercial tire dealership with five locations and a retread plant in South Carolina and Georgia.

The transaction is scheduled to close at the end of 2009, say Snider Tire officials.

"Consolidated Tires is the leading commercial dealer along the I-85 corridor in South Carolina," says President John Snider.

"This combination brings additional strength to our organization, increased service capabilities for our customers and adds one of the most efficient Michelin Retread Technologies Inc. (MRTI) plants in the country."

Snider Tire, which became an MRTI retreader earlier this year, has four retread plants, including a newly opened one in Houston, Texas. (See Snider Tire opens MRTI plant in Houston, posted Sept. 8 on www.moderntiredealer.com.)

Consolidated Tire's locations are in Greenville, Columbia, Spartanburg, and Harleyville, S.C., and Toccoa, Ga. Its retread plant is located in Pelzer, S.C.

Snider Tire is the fifth largest independent commercial tire dealership in the U.S. with 38 commercial-only locations and one combined commercial-retail center, according to Modern Tire Dealer data.
