Nokian posts sales, profit increases

Nokian Tyres plc posted net sales of 246.3 million euros and net profit of 45.1 million euros for the first quarter of 2008, increases of 23% and 60.3% over 1Q 2007 results, respectively.

Nokian credits sales increases to "positive developments in the North American winter tire markets" and other factors.

The company has "a positive outlook" for the rest of 2008, with expectations of "strong growth in key products and core markets."
