Snider Tire opens MRTI plant in Houston

Sept. 8, 2009

Snider Tire Inc. has opened a new Michelin Retread Technologies Inc. (MRTI) plant in Houston, Texas, that will supply four of the dealership's commercial tire locations in "The Lone Star State."

"We have seen an increase in demand from trucking fleets for emergency roadside service and MRTI products," says Snider Tire President John Snider. "This new facility will ensure that we can meet the demand with additional production, as well as timely retread delivery to our commercial locations in Texas," which are in Beaumont, Conroe, Dallas/Grand Prairie and Houston.

The new plant will be within 240 miles of the farthest Snider Tire Texas commercial location, cutting delivery time by more than 20%, according to MRTI officials. (Snider Tire is based in Greensboro, N.C.)

The addition of the Houston plant brings the total number of United States MRTI shops to 80.
