Peerless celebrates 60 years of selling tires

Aug. 12, 2009

What better way to celebrate your 60th anniversary than with a store opening? The new Peerless Tires 4 Less store in South West Albuquerque, N.M., gives Peerless Tyre Co. 59 stores in seven states.

In addition to tires, wheels and batteries, the store offers gasoline sold under the company’s private brand U-Pump-It name.

Peerless Tires 4 Less outlets sell Peerless, Bridgestone, Hankook and Cordovan tires.

The company was founded in 1949 in a Denver suburb as a two-pump gas station that “sold a lot of tires,” according to President Sam Forbes. Still Denver based and family owned, Peerless Tires 4 Less has become one of the largest retail tire dealers in the United States.

Peerless Tyre Co. is the 14th largest independent tire dealer in the U.S., according to the Modern Tire Dealer 100 list.

The company continues to look for opportunities to expand in the Rocky Mountains, adds Forbes.
