Peerless Tyre may add store in New Mexico

May 7, 2008

Denver, Colo.-based Peerless Tyre Co., one of the country's largest independent tire store chains, may add a store in Albuquerque, N.M., later this year, says Peerless Tyre President Sam Forbes.

Peerless Tyre currently has 58 retail locations throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas and South Dakota. The dealership opened its newest location, a store in Wheatridge, Colo., in June 2007.

"We just finished the expansion of one of our stores in Colorado Springs," says Forbes, who adds the company has expanded several stores within the last few years.

"In some cases, where remodeling (of current stores) is not possible, we're building new stores."

Peerless Tyre -- which sells its own Peerless brand, among others -- achieved $128 million in sales last year. The firm is the 11th largest independent tire store chain in the United States, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.
