Goodyear launches Dunlop UHP tire

April 23, 2009

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. introduced a new ultra-high performance tire, the Dunlop Sport Maxx TT, during a ride-and-drive event held yesterday, April 22, in Greenville, S.C.

The Sport Maxx TT will start shipping in May and will be available in 35 sizes by the end of June.

The Y-rated tire will fit wheels ranging from 16 inches to 22 inches in diameter, according to Goodyear officials.

The Sport Maxx contains a variety of features, including DuPont Kevlar reinforced sidewalls for enhanced road feedback; a motorsports-inspired tread; Goodyear's Jointless Band Technology, which helps maintain the tire's shape at highway speeds; and the company's Max Flange Shield, which protects wheels from curb damage.

The tire also contains Goodyear's proprietary Touch Technology, "an umbrella name for many different technologies," said Matt Neidert, brand manager, Dunlop brand marketing.

"At the core, we want to create a tighter link between the driver and the road."
