New Bridgestone Potenza uses F1 Stealth Technology

March 12, 2009

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) has introduced a new performance tire, the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11, which incorporates the company's proprietary Stealth Technology, originally developed for Formula One rain tires.

Available in V and W speed ratings, the RE-11 will be offered in 31 different sizes, ranging from 15 inches to 19 inches in diameter. The tire specifically targets sports cars like the Nissan 350Z, BMW 3 Series and the Mini Cooper S. Features include:

* "stealth" blocks that enhance water evacuation.

* asymmetric cavity shape for improved handling and ride characteristics.

* large outer tread blocks for improved cornering performance.

* grooves around the tire's circumference for hydroplane reduction.

"The RE-11 offers consumers a product that will perform well both on the street and on the track," says Phil Pacsi, vice president, consumer marketing, U.S. and Canada Consumer Tire Sales Division, BATO.
