Federal Tire Corp. has introduced a low rolling resistance passenger touring tire, the Xtramile XR01, which will be available this quarter in 12 sizes, ranging from 13 inches to 15 inches in wheel diameter.

The H- and V-rated tire uses "a unique blend of wear-resistant compounds along with increased tread depth to offer prolonged tire life," say Federal officials.

Other features include four grooves to ensure stability and proper water evacuation; dual layers of polyester carcass ply and strengthened sidewalls for extra durability; and "increased rubber-to-road contact."

Additional sizes will be added "to give a wide scope (of) rear and front wheel drive fitments."
