Bridgestone to adjust production in Europe

Feb. 20, 2009

Bridgestone Corp. says it will enact temporary shutdowns at its plants in Europe due to "worsening market demand" for tires.

Bridgestone has not revelaed which plants will be affected. "The number of days per month shutdown is different at each plant, according to the products produced, and will continue as long as required due to market conditions," say company officials.

Samon Isogai, vice president of manufacturing for Bridgestone Europe, says the tiremaker must "constantly review the supply and demand balance and adjust our production plans accordingly."
