Tires Plus and Bridgestone help homeowners

Jan. 29, 2009

On Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, more than 1,000 volunteers, including NFL players and VIPs, will restore a historic neighborhood in West Tampa, Fla., that's located just two miles from the home of Super Bowl XLIII.

This year's "Kickoff to Rebuild" event, run by Rebuilding Together, is sponsored in part by sister companies Morgan Tire & Auto LLC and Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. Morgan Tire operates under the name Tires Plus.

The two companies will provide free restorations, renovations and energy efficient modifications to 20 homes within a five block radius. This is the first year that they will be sponsoring this event.

“Our teammates regularly participate in volunteer opportunities across the country, which focus on improving living conditions and bettering our environment," says Jeremy Persinger, vice president of sales and marketing for Tires Plus.

As part of the sponsorship, Tires Plus is providing more than 30 volunteers for the annual event. Bridgestone also will donate 20 sets of tires, one for each homeowner.

Rebuilding Together is a nonprofit organization that focuses on preserving affordable housing and revitalizing communities in need. Rebuilding Together has more than 200 affiliates nationwide.
