Michelin recalls Pilot Alpin tires

Jan. 29, 2009

Michelin North America Inc. is recalling Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 ZP tires (size 225/50R17 94H) made between Sept. 17, 2006, and June 14, 2008.

The tires "fail to conform" to federal tire labeling requirements, say officials from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"The DOT symbol on the DOT tire identification number is missing. Without the DOT symbol on the sidewall, the tire contains no declaration as to its certification."

Michelin will notify owners and provide replacements at no charge. It has set up a consumer hot line at (800) 847-3435.
