Expect less freight in first half, says ATA

Jan. 16, 2009

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) trade group expects freight to further weaken "as the economy contracts through the first half of 2009," according to ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello.

The ATA's For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index contracted a total of 6.3% from June through October last year. The October index was the lowest in five years.
