TIA elects new board members

Sept. 16, 2002

Tony Vizyak and Tiffany Hughes have been elected by Tire Industry Association (TIA) members to the organization's board of directors.

Vizyak is the president of Great Lakes Tire, a single-location commercial/retail dealership in Sandusky, Ohio. He's a 40-year tire industry veteran, and has served on the former Tire Association of North America board of directors for the past three years. Vizyak also is a past president of the Ohio Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association.

TIA describes Hughes as "one of the most prominent figures in the rubber recycling market." She currently serves as vice president of American Rubber Technologies in Jacksonville, Fla., and had been a member of the former International Tire & Rubber Association Tire & Rubber Recycling Advisory Council for a number of years.

TIA's board will have 40 members in 2002-2003, down from 48 this past year, according to association officials.

"The association is on a three-year plan to trim down the size of its board to 36, and this plan resulted in only two board seats becoming available for this year's election," say TIA officials.

During a regular year, there are 10 seats available.

Any TIA member can run for board positions, according to TIA President Steve Disney.
