Brembo Easy Check receives AIA product award

Nov. 15, 2006

Brembo North America's (BNA) Easy Check rotor won the Auto International Association's (AIA) Best New Product for Import Cars and Trucks award at the recently held 2006 AAPEX Show.

Last year at AAPEX, BNA received two awards for its Easy Check rotor -– the New Product Showcase award from AAPEX and the Popular Mechanic’s Editor’s Choice award for innovative new product. In addition, Frost & Sullivan presented BNA with its Product Quality Leadership award for Brembo’s production of brake rotors and drums for the North American aftermarket.

BNA's Easy Check rotor has wear indicators -– two small holes of different depths machined into the face of the disc. When the first hole disappears, it indicates that 80% of the usable disc surface has been expended. When the second hole disappears, the disc needs to be replaced immediately, BNA says.

The wear indicators thus enable car owners and service technicians to ensure vehicle safety by allowing regular disc wear checks. Second, it reminds car owners of the importance of regular brake system check-ups and the need to replace worn components, and third, it provides technicians with a clear means to gain the customer’s trust that a repair is actually needed.

Brembo Easy Check is offered on the top 200 fastest-selling applications with ongoing expansion to the entire range, the company notes.
