Nov. 1, 2006

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. received the Editor's Choice Award from Popular Mechanics last night at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The presentation was part of Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week.

Goodyear was honored for its Eagle ResponsEdge with Carbon Fiber tire, introduced last May. The award was given "in recognition of outstanding achievement in new product design and innovation," according to the magazine.

Bob Toth, marketing manager for Goodyear brand auto tires, said this was not the first time the company was so honored. "Signature technology" that has won the award in the past includes Assurance with Tripletred Technology.

"We're very pleased to have won for our first use of carbon fiber in a consumer product," he added.

Popular Mechanics handed out 17 automotive-related achivement awards; only one tire, the Eagle ResponsEdge, was honored.
