SEMA Show Preview: Pirelli introduces 'super single' light truck tire

Oct. 30, 2006

Pirelli Tire North America Inc. is showcasing its 405/25R24 Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico 'super single’ concept tire for light trucks at this year's SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show.

The tire was inspired by the technology in the heavy truck market and driven by the aggressive look of the “twin-wheeled” or “dually” options of the bigger pickup trucks, the company says.

Positive market reaction to the new tire will put the tire into production at Pirelli's MIRS (Modular Integrated Robotized System)factory in Rome, Ga., in early 2007, the company reports. The 405/25R24 Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico is the widest tire that can be made on Pirelli’s MIRS production system.

The new tire will be on display in Pirelli’s booth #40509 at SEMA and also on a DUB Dodge Ram 1500 at the entrance to the show.

The tire may be mounted on a 14.5-inch or 15-inch wide rim and is intended for all kinds of customized light trucks, particularly the small and mid-sized trucks that have wildly modified bodywork and rear suspensions.
