Al Diaz, president of Tire Kingdom International, recently died. He was 59 years old.
Diaz started in the tire industry in 1969 and joined Tire Kingdom in late 1992 as president of its wholesale division.
He worked his way up through the company and was promoted to president of Tire Kingdom International six years ago.
"In 14 years of working for Tire Kingdom, Al built the business from $2 million per year to approximately $50 million per year," say Tire Kingdom officials.
When once asked to cite the reasons for his success, Diaz, among several factors, credited the support of his family, business mentors and co-workers; a sense of humor coupled with a positive attitude; and "taking a leadership role of making things happen either in your personal or business life. If you do nothing, nothing happens."
Diaz is survived by wife of 37 years, Jenny, and children, Chris and Michelle.
