Michelin seeks new logistics provider in U.S.

Sept. 25, 2006

Michelin North America Inc. is looking for a new logistics service provider in the United States.

"This follows a mutual decision by Michelin and TNT Logistics North America not to renew their contract for logistics services in the U.S.," say Michelin officials.

Michelin and TNT have agreed to transition nine U.S.-based distribution centers over a period of seven months.

"During this period, Michelin and TNT are committed to an orderly transition of operations on a site-by-site basis to providers selected by Michelin. These multiple new providers will focus on enhancing customer service in the future."

TNT will continue to serve Michelin at five of its Canadian distribution centers and also at the tiremaker's Independence, Va., tire and wheel mounting operation.

Michelin Mexico was not covered by the TNT contract and is unaffected by this transition.
