"We have encouraged the Steelworkers to finalize a (labor contract) agreement with Bridgestone/Firestone next," say Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. officials, "so we can ensure that the pattern (agreement) established by Michelin will be continued industry-wide."
The United Steelworkers are in contract talks with both Goodyear and Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC.
The union ratified a new labor contract with Michelin North America Inc. in early August.
