A number of retreaders tell moderntiredealer.com they have made some big investments over the last 12 months, including the purchase of new equipment.

* Omaha, Neb.-based Allied Oil & Supply Inc. added a chamber to its Michelin Retread Technologies Inc. retread plant.

* Brahler's Truckers Supply Inc. (BTS) in Jacksonville, Ill., "has added a significant amount of new equipment to its specialty and OTR retread plant," says company CEO Richard Brahler. BTS began retreading small OTR tires with a precure system two months ago.

* Free Service Tire Co. Inc., which is headquartered in Johnson City, Tenn., bought new equipment, including a 60-inch mill and an OTR tire tread cutter. It also purchased more service trucks and opened two satellite operations.

* Roanoke, Va.-based White Tire Distributors Inc. updated some Bandag Inc. equipment.

White Tire also added a retread plant in Newport News, Va., which brings its total number of retread shops from five to six.
